If you have shelter needs that include horses or other livestock, please contact us and we will try to find a fostering situation. If you are being threatened please call 911 or your local women's shelter. Many organizations, while not having pet shelters, do work with other non-profits to board the animals of abuse victims until suitable housing can be found.

Littlegrass Ranch, Inc. Transitional Living Program Guidelines

Littlegrass Ranch, Inc. is a transitional living program that assists female victims of abuse move toward self sufficiency and successful living By providing free housing, horse, livestock and pet shelter and other support services, each woman is given an opportunity to develop and work on individualized independent living goals in a positive, safe and supportive living environment.

Geographical Service Area: United States of America

Cost/Fees to Client: Minimal Fees; Accommodations made for residents who have no source of income.

Who is Eligible? Women of at least 21 years of age who are in need of a stable, safe place to live.  Must be committed to actively participating in program services and willing to follow the program guidelines and expectations. (Couples and/or on campus romantic relationships are not allowed.)

Services Provided:

Free Housing - Littlegrass Ranch has the capacity to accommodate up to 16 residents in duplex housing units.

Transportation - Transports residents without transportation to work, personal appointments, school and leisure activities.

Service Coordination – assists residents in learning about and accessing needed community resources and social services.

The Littlegrass Ranch transitional living program is designed to help adult women move toward self sufficiency and successful living free from abuse.By providing housing, transportation and other services, each woman is given an opportunity to develop and work on individualized independent living goals in a positive, safe and supportive living environment.

How long is the program?  The length of time in the Enhanced Horizons program varies depending on the individual needs of the client, typically 90 days or more. Each client is assessed twice monthly for progress.

What is expected of residents?   All residents will be required to:

  • Participate in the development of a personal service plan that outlines the goals and objectives that they hope to accomplish while in the program.
  • Engage in a minimum of 35 hours per week of productive activities such as attending school, working a full-time or part-time job, community service, and/or independent living skills training.
  • Will be expected to actively seek employment and to work at least part-time. Residents will pay a small portion of their paycheck for living expenses and will be expected to save funds during their stay at Littlegrass Ranch.
  • Follow program guidelines and expectations.

What does it take to succeed in the program?   Participants must have a certain level of maturity and a strong willingness to work with program staff and other residents to accomplish their individual program goals and objectives.

What are the eligibility requirements?    To be eligible for the program, you:

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must be in need of a dependable, safe place to live.
  • Must be committed to actively participating in LGR program services.
  • Must be willing to follow program guidelines and expectations.
        Note: Couples and/or on-campus romantic relationships are not allowed. This includes minor children.
