What we are doing until the facility is ready.
We know that many women may not have time to wait on the proposed facility is built and ready for occupancy. What we are doing now is connecting women with volunteer Safe-Houses. These are places owned by individuals with extra space for a woman and a horse or two. Because these are private homes and ranches, we must take special care to match a client with the right host. Women applying for Safe-Housing will be asked to complete an application and a telephone screening interview, followed by a personal meeting to determine if it is a good match.
Clients accepted for Safe-Housing must comply with Littlegrass Ranch standards and procedures,
Can you offer your place to be a Safe-House?
We need generous big-hearted people with an empty guest house or spare bedroom that can volunteer their places for temporary housing. Because our focus in on horses and large animals, every property should have pasture and some sort of cover for horses, a cow, or other livestock. Please contact us directly to speak with us if you are interested in helping this way.
If you support our mission and live outside of the Texas Hill Country, we still need you!
In fact, we need resources everywhere. The most dangerous time for a woman leaving an abusive relationship is the time when she leaves and for the next year. For that reason many women choose to leave their current area and relocate. Our first relocation was in Florida; our second from Idaho. We know women who would gladly move far from home to be safe.
